My Votes On November 8

Question 1: I will vote yes to renew the sunsetting operating levy and extend its accompanying property tax increase.  It is beyond the district's control to manage the funding gymnastics being handed down by the State of MN.

Questions 2 & 3: I will vote no on questions 2 & 3.  After careful review and despite struggling to obtain requested information, it is my position the plan/estimate/path developed in collaboration with Kraus Anderson is not financially efficient.  Should both questions [2 & 3] pass, the combined cost with debt service will be approximately $42,000,000.  The bond issue itself, would carry a face value of 29,900,000.  This figure contains a "soft cost" estimate of 25% and an inflation contingency of 6% leaving a potential net of just $22,824,427 dedicated to hard "maintenance."  Yes, there will be soft costs and inflation contingencies in any like project.  But accepting a solo estimate with 31% built in and no second opinion is too expensive in the current economic environment in my opinion.  Contractors are begging for this type of project in MN.

It is my hope; with your help, a more viable, cost effective plan can be established for a vote in 2012!
