During your “Yes” campaign, the community was flooded with this propaganda:
Question 2 is a $23.3 million bond to fund deferred maintenance of district buildings.
- It would address roofs, exteriors, mechanical/electrical systems, and parking lots.
- The estimated tax impact on a $300,000 home would be $9/month.*
Question 3 is a $6.6 million bond to fund additional improvements to the learning environment, safety and accessibility.
- It would improve bathrooms, locker rooms, playgrounds, kitchens, athletic field maintenance, and building security.
- The estimated tax impact on a $300,000 home would be $4.50/month.*
* Try the online Tax Impact Calculator to see how the three referendum questions would impact your property taxes.
Just received my 2012 Hennepin County Tax Statement in the mail and the school portion of the property tax on my slightly more than $300,000 assessed value home went up $21.18 per month or 32.49% over 2011.
At $329,000, your calculator said $14.50 per month. So you missed by 53%?? What would it have been had the market not moved and reduced the interest cost by $3 million?! A 70% miss???!
For 2012, my assessed value decreased, but my property tax increased by 9.7% thanks largely to you!
Con people have used the “pennies per day” pitch for centuries vs. looking at hard percentages!
I certainly hope my tax statement is the exception, but I’m hearing the same from other mystified Westonka residents. What should [we] tell them?????
In light of this new example of your inability to be accurate with numbers, facts and data, I believe you should move forward ASAP with finding an independent project accountant like the community desires:
I thought this big tax hike was going to raise our property values.
ReplyDeleteWith this type of accuracy, I have little faith in Mound Westonka's math department.
Looks like Botts was right=====someone should get some cops over there.
ReplyDeleteIt is very hard for me to refrain from using profanity to explain my feelings over being lied to by these screws. My school tax went up nearly 60% or 45% higher than what I was led to believe it would if the votes passed. I really hope I don't bump into these liar-crooks in public.
ReplyDeleteSettle down everyone. No need to make threats. No need for personal attacks.
ReplyDeleteSettle down? Are you #$%^&*& nuts? That is exactly what they want so they can steal some more!!! Relax and enjoy it? I don't see any threats made any place? What threat? Personal? What is more personal than lying and using a public office to steal?
DeleteThe only thing on his blog resembling a threat, was brought to you courtesy of David Bond. No, if you want to see threats, bullying, brow-beating and similar tactics you will have to visit a school board meeting. As for settling down, as soon as that happens, the borg board will be buying land or planning their next refferendum--and tax hike--where only 55 cents on the dollar will end up enhancing the district.
DeleteIf your assessment is only $4k high (3-4%) then you should count yourself lucky. Theres many people out there with assessments that are 10-50% higher than they should be.
ReplyDeleteprocess how to appeal property tax--You have to contact the tax accessors office in your region to determine the porcess. You can also find out by going online at the cities website. You might find some links and info there. It's where you need to start. I have had sellers who did in fact fight the figure and win. They started at the tax accessors office to have the homes value re-evaluted. Good Luck!
Don,
ReplyDeleteAre you buying that bullshit story in the Laker today? 5/19/12
Is Kevin Borg g@y? What else would explain someone putting the wood to the westonka taxpayers the way he has and then saying he's "happy for them?" Stupidity would be one alternative I suppose.
